The Hitch Rack Ranch is a historic ranch located just south of Colorado Springs, CO. The ranch has a proud tradition of producing top performance horses across multiple breeds.

A FAMILY BUSINESS BUILT OVER THREE GENERATIONS

American Quarter Horses

American Quarter Horses are known as some of the most versatile horses under the sun. There is a proud tradition of competitive AQHA performance horses being produced at the ranch. Continued top performances led to AQHA awarding the Hitch Rack Ranch a Breeder’s Award, and although we are operating on a smaller scale the quality of our horses has not changed.

Thoroughbreds

We have recently introduced several Thoroughbreds into our breeding and riding programs. All of the Thoroughbreds we have brought in are proven winners on the track and will bring added height and athleticism to our babies. We are also in the process of transitioning several of them into sport horses who will be available for lease/purchase.

Events

Our philosophy is that horses have things to learns from almost every event out there! With this in mind we believe in cross-training the horses to keep them sound mentally and physically. We want all of our horses to try everything to find their fit. Some of the things we’ve enjoyed most are: polo, eventing, jumping, working cowhorse, showmanship, trick training, and of course trail rides across the ranch.

Meet the Family

  • Cindi Allmendinger

Cindi has almost singlehandedly kept the Hitch Rack Ranch together and operational since her mother, Rose Mary, passed away in 2009. She currently splits time between the Hitch Rack and Aiken, SC where she lives with her husband, Dale.

  • Matthew Stratton

Matt is the oldest of the two children and currently resides in Memphis, TN. Although not physically at the ranch he is an integral part of the operation.

  • Taylor Stratton

Taylor is the only member of the family living in Colorado full time, but she’s doing her best to convince Matt and Cindi to move home. Keep your fingers crossed!
